BLACKPINK블랙핑크

BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment. Its four members are Jisoo (지수), Jennie (제니), Rosé (로제) and Lisa (리사).15 The group debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One, a short release of two songs, "Boombayah" and "Whistle". "Whistle" became their first number one on South Korea's Circle Digital Chart.1

On YouTube, "DDU-DU DDU-DU" (2018) was the first music video by a Korean group to pass one billion and then two billion views.1 With 2.41 billion views as of October 10, 2026, it is #3 on DabPop's list of the most-viewed K-pop music videos and still the most-viewed video by any K-pop group. Ten of the 25 videos on that list are BLACKPINK's, and two more are members' solo hits: Rosé's "APT." with Bruno Mars at #2 and Jennie's "SOLO" at #17.2 On February 20, 2026, BLACKPINK's channel made them the first artist in the world to pass 100 million YouTube subscribers.1

Their first studio album, The Album (2020), was the first by a Korean girl group to sell one million copies. Born Pink (2022) was the first by a Korean girl group to sell two million and to reach number one on both the US Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. The EP Deadline sold 1,461,785 copies on its first day, February 27, 2026, the highest first-day total for a K-pop girl group in Hanteo Chart history.1

On stage, the Born Pink World Tour played 66 concerts in 22 countries from October 2022 to September 2023. It grossed $330 million from 1.8 million tickets, the highest total ever for a female group, and ranks #2 on DabPop's list of the highest-grossing K-pop concert tours.3 In April 2023 BLACKPINK became the first Asian act to headline the Coachella festival in California, and that November they were made honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for their work as advocates for the COP26 climate conference.1 The group also came up in the making of KPop Demon Hunters: Sony Pictures Animation producer Agnes Lee said the music of 2NE1 and BLACKPINK came to mind while she read the script, which led her to the producer Teddy (테디) of The Black Label.4
